Happy St. Paddy's Day!

Did you wear your green today? I did…I’m a redhead with green eyes (I’m of Scots-Irish heritage…more Scots than Irish...but who can really tell the difference?), so everyone says I look good in green. But I hate the modern bright green that is typical of St. Paddy’s Day (maybe that's what's called Kelly green?) and also the limey yellow-green color that looks fluorescent. Ugh. I like the subdued grey-green of malachite. I have a couple of pieces of antique jewelry that I drag out once a year that are made from malachite.

We went to a St. Paddy’s gathering tonight at a neighbor’s house. I can’t really call it a “party,” as it was so low key and everybody left by 9 p.m. Everyone else brought hors d'oeuvres, and hubby cooked a corned beef for sandwiches.
I’ll probably blow up like a balloon overnight…too much salt in the corned beef, along with the 3 glasses of Mac & Jack (which I just adore). I'll just be sure to drink a lot of water tomorrow and flush it out.

This is a short post tonight because it’s late and I’m tired and B is asking to go to bed. Okay…see you tomorrow!

  1. Wore green! Didn't do anything though... too much school work! I have freckles galore and my father's side is heavy on the Scottish/Irish side. Its funny though because I am the first to have the heavy freckles- No one else does in either family... Way back back... the family would do a very traditional meal and get together just like Christmas-

Sounds like you have been pretty moderate the last couple of days (CA. pizza kitchen, etc)...

I always wanted red hair to complete the freckle package- I dyed and fried it for years...! I know that a lot of people with red hair don't enjoy it- but I am envious!

  2. I wore green and that was all I did to celebrate. I had an invite to go out and tear it up, but that's just not me right now (or anymore).

I would have loved to have corned beef for dinner. Time was short last night, so that didn't happen. Maybe some day soon though.

  3. I love green, my car is dark green, but I forgot it was St. Patty's day since I'm off this week! And not very Irish, at least I'm not sure if I have any Irish since I don't know much about my heritage.

I don't drink much anymore so I'm wondering what is Mac & Jack? I used to drink Scotch back in the day...
