I just read “Losing Waist”s post about perfectionism. Boy, did that hit home for me. I’m the ultimate perfectionist. I’m even competitive about how much of a perfectionist I am…I want to be more of a perfectionist than you are. Not really, but that’s how it feels some times.
Last night my hubby and I had a small dinner party. He spent the day cooking, and I spent the day cleaning. Once I got home from walking yesterday, I started cleaning. I cleaned up and straightened up and fussed over rooms that there was little to no chance that anyone would see...unless we had a tornado and we all had to take refuge in one of the downstairs bedrooms. I can't remember the last tornado we had around here. Ah, yes, the joys of perfectionism.
The dinner party was quite good. Of course, as logically could be expected, the only rooms anybody went into were the kitchen and dining room. No one even saw the rest of the house…after all that non-stop cleaning! Well, at least the whole house is clean now.
First we served a salad; then the main course, prepared by my husband, was gumbo with shrimp, crab, scallops, and sausage. For dessert I made a sweet potato pecan pie. Everything was delicious, and I ate the salad, one bowl of gumbo, and one piece of pie. That in and of itself wasn’t too bad...both salad and gumbo were fairly healthy and the piece of pie was quite small. But I also had 4 glasses of red wine, which was probably the worst thing I had last night; plus whipping cream in my coffee, even though there was non-fat half & half available (sorry, I don’t get how half & half can be non-fat; isn’t that an oxymoron?). Yes, I’m weak. But to be honest, I didn’t feel too bad about what I ate last night. I had exercised a bunch, plus I had hardly anything to eat all day... because I was too busy cleaning.
One annoying thing last night (which I can tell only you, my blogger buddies) was I put on a pair of jeans that I was wearing comfortably this time last year… I think I weighed about 7 lbs less then. They were very tight and uncomfortable last night, but I didn't have anything else to wear. While we were all standing around in the kitchen chatting, I caught a glimpse of myself in the oven door…all I could see was my stomach sticking out. Not good. I’ll know I’m doing well when those jeans fit comfortably again.
Today, I’m a bit tired out. I slept late, took B to the park today for just a couple of minutes, and then hubby & I went to the mall plus grocery shopping. So I did get a bit of exercise today although nothing too vigorous.
I’m glad I have 5 days until I have to weigh in again for BLBE! I have tomorrow off for MLK Day, so I’ll have time to get in a really good workout.
I have a pair of "those" jeans too. In addition to several other pairs many sizes smaller. But these "next" ones, that will work in about 10 lbs are ones I keep out on a chair and I try then on every few days. Definitely helps to "see" the difference. Hang in there trooper!
ReplyDeleteAll right, girl, get up and work that body! The A-Team needs you up and moving.
ReplyDeleteYour dinner party sounds like it turned out nice. At least your house is sparkling clean now... cleaning is great exercise!
ReplyDeleteJeans like that are always enough for me to run and grab a long, baggy sweater or something to pull over them, no matter what the weather. But you want to know what is a real rush ? Getting to the place where you put those suckers on and they literally fall off of you. Been there, done that , and I keep working to repeat that experience. We will do it !!!
ReplyDeleteAnd isn't the whole reason we through parties so that our homes get that deep cleaning we are supposed to do every spring ??? I know it's true for me !
You can come clean my house now! Your dinner party sounded great and YUMMY.
ReplyDeleteGet moving today and stay focused on your weigh in day! Go A-Team!
Yes! I consider those moments when you catch yourself in the mirror or a reflection a "STABMYFUCKINGEYESOUT" moment. It is like the most unforgiving moment possible and it STICKS WITH YOU!
ReplyDeleteHa! Only see if a tornado... That made me laugh out loud... but it is true!
