Sweet B

B is starting to limp worse even with the anti-inflammatory, so yesterday I took him back to the vet. She did another exam and still seemed to think he has arthritis.

I did ask her if she knew for sure it wasn’t something else…like cancer. She reassured me that if it was bone cancer he would be in a lot of pain (and he really doesn’t seem to be in much pain at all).
But she said the only way to know for sure is to have pictures taken, so I’m going to take him in sometime in the next few weeks for an x-ray. He will have to be completely sedated so that they can get several pictures in different poses, and that’s a worry to me. But what else can we do?

This morning, we went to the park and there’s an area that I just did laps while B hobbled around in a smaller inside circle where I could keep an eye on him. I was able to get my 45 minutes of exercise, and B just got to mosey around sniffing all the messages left by other dogs.

A few minutes ago, I was channel surfing and noticed the show Ruby on the guide. I have never watched Ruby, mostly because it’s not on one of my normal stations, but I’ve read other bloggers discussing the show. I thought I'd see what it was all about so I switched it on about half-way through the episode. There were a bunch of ladies discussing how to eat healthy...

So far so good...But after the commercial break…

It was Ruby crying about having to put her dog down!

Crap! That’s all I need right now.

I immediately switched back to the previous channel, so my one foray into watching Ruby was not very successful.

Anyway, I'll keep you updated on what's wrong with B as I know more. In the meantime, if you wouldn’t mind…please say a prayer for my little dog, that whatever is wrong with him is nothing serious.

  1. OMG I would have changed the channel too. Hope he is better soon. As for Ruby, I don't get the channel it is on so I've never seen it. Glad you are getting your exercise and watching your little guy at the same time. Good deal for both of you.

  2. Lighting a candle and sending white light your way. Never ever doubt a thought of gut instinct we might have about our beloved pets. The earlier something is detected, the better. The early detection of Sena's cancer cells was hard to take but I saw how she never acted in pain until it got really bad. They are stoic for us, especially if they believe they're here to protect us. I don't care what a vet says, they feel and suffer, sometimes silently. Hoping for the absolute best.

  3. I'll be keeping B in my thoughts. Truly hope it's not serious.

I watched a few minutes of Ruby once when we were getting the channel for free one weekend. Didn't really get into it, but I can understand why you'd not want to watch that episode. (((HUGS)))

  4. Oh sweetie, I'm so sorry about B. I hope it's just arthritis.

My last dog was a little mutt from the pound. I addopted her when she was 10. I only had her for four years, but I loved that dog to peces. Her name was Daisy.

Anyway, when she was about 11 she started limping. It turned out to be arthritis. I got her on some arthritis meds from the vet (can't remember the name, but we tired a couple different ones) and the glucosamine/chondroitin powder on her food. She got a lot better. I ordered the powder online. It was specifically for dogs and was suppose to be absorbed better than a pill. I was never sure if it was the powder or the pills from the doctor.

How old is B? He's just the cutest little guy I've even seen. You're both in my prayers. I'm sure it's going to be okay and it's just arthritis. Hang in there.

I tried watching Ruby... I lasted all of 11 minutes. I just didn't see it as a very positive show.
