Crazy week...but it's okay

My mom is in the hospital with a bowel obstruction. She called me at 2 a.m. on Saturday morning with a terrible stomach ache. Mom lives about an hour and 20 minutes away from hub and me. So I told her to call 911, and the paramedics came and took her to the hospital. I spent all Saturday dealing with the doctors and hospital staff. She is going to be okay, but she probably won't be going home until Wednesday or Thursday.

In the meantime, hub and I are babysitting her 2 neurotic dogs. Buster does not like these dogs. They are always trying to kiss him, and want him to play. He is above it all, of course.

One of the dogs is really a puppy and still in that destructive stage. Fortunately so far she has only destroyed doggy toys. I came home today and there were toys everywhere, as well as toy animal stuffing strewn throughout the whole upstairs.

In spite of it all, I really feel like I'm doing well physically, but even more important…mentally and emotionally I'm feeling great. Even with all the stress of this last week, I haven't felt the need to eat compulsively. I've been feeling happy and in control, and able to see the humor in everything with my mom and the dogs.

I'll be going back for some more trial time later this week. The Prosecution rests tomorrow, and the Defense starts later this week. I want to be there for the Defense's first "expert" (i.e. paid) rebuttal witness. Let me just say this...it disgusts me what some people will do for money. How does someone like that sleep at night? Ugh.

On a positive note, my almost-new size 12 Vera Wang jeans are getting loose. So being the cheapskate that I am, I bought an almost new pair of SIZE 10 Gap jeans on eBay for $10. I just got them today and they fit perfectly! Wow. Size 10. I never thought I would see the day. And I don't feel like I'm going to immediately start gaining back what I've lost. I may actually be able to wear these jeans for a while!

I hope your Mom recovers nice and peacefully.

  2. This post made me happy. Not the part about your mom, of course. Hope she recovers quickly.

The happy part is the size 10 and the happy and peaceful attitude towards yourself.

Good luck with the trial. Yes, some people LOVE money and will do anything for it. Let's just be glad that we aren't one of them.

  3. Good post! You sound so serene and in control, despite everything going on around you. The dogs must be a handful! And congratulations on the size 10 jeans. Wow! I am still a long way from size 10! Good luck with the trial.

Have fun with the dogs and give Buster some extra cuddles from me. Poor little guy!
